Avengers 5: Disney Announces New Team of Heroes Is Coming
Disney’s top executive teased what MCU fans should expect from the team that will lead the way in 2025’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Avengers 5 will be the group’s first full team-up since Avengers: Endgame closed out the Infinity Saga in 2019. And there’s already been plenty of teases for what Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are in for once this new movie arrives.
This team is rumored to feature Captain America, Shang-Chi, and Shuri’s Black Panther as three of the key players going against Kang the Conqueror.
However, that team is guaranteed to expand over the next couple of years, particularly with needing to account for a major death rumored to come for one of Kang Dynasty’s heroes.
Disney CEO Teases Team in Avengers 5
During the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference, via Deadline, Disney CEO Bob Iger briefly discussed what Marvel fans are in for with the Avengers that will appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
The Disney boss discussed how Marvel Studios must balance fan-favorite characters with the introduction of new faces, teasing “a lot of newness” in the MCU’s future:
“There’s nothing in any way inherently off in terms of the Marvel brand. I think we just have to look at what characters and stories we’re mining. If you look at the trajectory of Marvel in the next five years, there will be a lot of newness.”
Iger specifically touched on the next installment of the Avengers franchise, Avengers 5, announcing that “a whole new set of Avengers” will make its debut:
“We’re going to turn back to the Avengers franchise with a whole new set of Avengers, for example.”
Several members of the movie’s Avengers line-up have been teased, particularly by the movie’s head writer Jeff Loveness. The scribe teased that other heroes from both Phase 4 and Phase 5 are on his list for inclusion, specifically mentioning Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova and Letitia Wright’s Black Panther.
“We got Florence Pugh, and Jonathan Majors, and Letitia Wright. We’ve got such a deep bench of really good actors. Everyone’s gonna get their chance to shine. I can’t say who. I can’t say when they will shine. But I think we’ve got a deep bench and it’s fun to finally put everybody into the game.”
Tenoch Huerta’s Namor has also been mentioned by Loveness, saying that he’s “excited” to write for the Talokanil leader.
It’s unclear whether members of the Guardians of the Galaxy will find themselves among the new Avengers roster, though Gunn’s recent comments about Adam Warlock’s future could be teasing that he may have an important role on the team.
How Long Until New Avengers Team Is Announced?
Bob Iger’s tease should build plenty of anticipation to see the new iteration of the Avengers take center stage in Avengers 5. But the real questions now are who exactly will make up that team and when the group will officially be confirmed.
There are still close to a dozen new movies and TV shows coming during Phase 5, plus a handful of others making their debut once Phase 6 comes around in 2025.
And although Jeff Loveness indicated that this movie likely won’t feature characters like Blade or the Fantastic Four, there are still dozens of other MCU mainstays on the table for inclusion.
With all the changes happening inside Marvel Studios, there’s also a chance that Avengers 5 may not actually hit theaters until after 2025, although the hope is that it will be a worthy successor to the Avengers movies that came before it.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently set to release on May 2, 2025.
