Sorry, nothing in cart.
Kali Uchis returns today with the release of Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) ∞, her first primarily Spanish-language album. It’s her second project of 2020, following the release of her EP, To Feel Alive. It features Rico Nasty, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Jowell Y Randy, and Jhay Cortez.
“The album is all Spanish with a few bits here and there in English,” Uchis told The Evening Standard. “That’s just my writing style. I grew up bilingual, speaking Spanglish in my house, so it would be inauthentic to sing completely in Spanish or in English because that’s not how I talk. At my concerts, when I do songs and covers in Spanish, I see people being receptive. They aren’t as closed-minded as they used to be.”
Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) ∞, which translates to Without Fear (Of Love and Other Demons), takes part of its title from a famous 1994 novel by Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez. Although the Colombian-American Uchis has always incorporated some Spanish into her work, the new album is far more Spanish-heavy than her previous music. She also plans to release a primarily English follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2018 album, Isolation.
